Some Courses I'd Like to Play...

Not in any particular order:

River Ridge,  Vineyard Course (Oxnard) -- the 18th hole is to an island green, 122 yards from my forward tees. This is a shot I don't currently have in my bag, so I'll need to work on that.

Chambers Bay (The Gary Player Challenge) -- when the US Open was up at Chambers Bay, Gary Player said that a 16 handicapper wouldn't be able to break 100 on the course. Again, and obviously, I'm not yet up to the challenge, but once my handicap gets down, I'm on it!

Tijeras Creek - We played this course today (4/9), and it was really nice, especially the back nine. I generally play the most forward tees available, but they had yellow tees which just seemed like cheating, so I played reds. 70.7/129. Beautiful course, and a gorgeous Southern California spring day!

Ojai Valley

Industry Hills, The Babe

Strawberry Farms, out in Irvine, I think - this is the only course I know of with a Par 6 hole!

2 new courses! July 2017

I played Hunter's Ranch (Paso Robles) on Thursday with my husband. I had looked online for the rates, and noticed it was quite pricey to add a cart, so when I called to book the tee time, I asked if it was a pretty walkable course. I was assured it was, and for someone who walks at least once a week, I wasn't worried. Well! Maybe if you're used to 95 degrees it's walkable! Plus some serious hilli-ness! I started getting a little heat-sick by about #7, so got a cart on the back nine.

Other than that, though, it was a beautiful course, great condition, lots of character! We loved it and will definitely play again on our way north to visit Mom & Dad.

Today I played a local course, Mile Square Classic, with four friends. We were not impressed. Now, none of us are great golfers, but usually we can get at least close to the green with two great shots. Not here. And kind of boring, as a matter of fact! The back nine had a smidgen more interesting holes, but even then, as my friend Gail said, "If I didn't keep track, I would think we had already played this hole a couple times!"

We had fun, of course, but probably won't go back. On a side note, the Players Course at Mile Square has more character and has more reachable greens.
